Public Hearings on Bishkek Master Plan–2050 Launched
In Bishkek, public hearings on the city’s Master Plan up to 2050 began at the “Tunguch” Theater. The event was chaired by Mayor Aybek Junushaliev and attended by developers from the Research Institute, led by project manager Irina Grishechkina.
Residents of the Lenin and Pervomaisk districts were presented with the main provisions of the project. Delegates of the IV People’s Kurultai and deputies of the Bishkek City Council also participated in the hearings.
The mayor emphasized that international experience was taken into account during the development of the Master Plan. He noted that the conceptual development plan for Bishkek until 2050 was prepared by the Japanese company Nikken Sekkei.
“Later, the St. Petersburg Planning Research Institute was involved in the project. This institute has extensive international experience: it has developed over 700 master plans, 95% of which have been approved. Their independent and objective assessment is important for us, as the specialists show the real situation in the city according to current standards,” Junushaliev highlighted.
To ensure transparency and citizen engagement, a dedicated website genplan.bishkek.gov.kg was created, where project materials are posted and public surveys are conducted.
The Master Plan project was published on the official city hall website for public discussion on October 25, 2025. So far, the municipality has received 370 proposals and comments from city residents. In addition, since October 27, 2025, citizens have been able to review the project in print form, with 91 consultations already conducted.
“Our goal is to create a modern, comfortable, and environmentally friendly city for residents and visitors of the capital,” said the mayor.
The session continued in a Q&A format, allowing citizens to receive explanations from city officials and project developers.
