A commemorative cultural evening dedicated to the memory of the great actor, artist, and public figure, Hero of the Kyrgyz Republic, People’s Artist of the USSR, People’s Artist of the Kyrgyz Republic, and People’s Artist of Fine Arts of the Kyrgyz Republic, Suymönkul Chokmorov, was held at the Suymönkul Chokmorov Museum-Workshop.
The event was organized by the Directorate of United Memorial Museums under the Department of Culture of the Bishkek Mayor’s Office.
Honored guests included renowned film and art experts — Aibek Zhangaziyev, Kerez Akynbekova, Taalay Usubaliev, and Jakshybek Junushev — who shared their memories and reflections on Chokmorov’s life and creative work. The program featured excerpts from films in which he starred.
A special part of the evening was the meeting with students from the B. Beishenaliev Kyrgyz National University of Culture and Arts and the S. Chuikov Kyrgyz State Art College, where young people had the opportunity to ask questions and discuss the significance of Chokmorov’s work for contemporary art.
Suymonkul Chokmorov remains a symbol of Kyrgyz cinema, art, and culture. The commemorative evening once again highlighted his outstanding contribution to the development of national art and the enduring love of the people for their beloved icon.
