On October 3, 2025, the city sports competition “School League” was officially opened at the “Gazprom for Children” Sports and Fitness Complex. The event is organized by the Department of Physical Culture and Sports, Tourism, and Youth Affairs of the Bishkek City Hall.
Deputy Mayor Viktoria Mozgacheva delivered a welcoming speech, noting that the city administration is proud of its young athletes, including world champions, and will continue to support sports initiatives and the development of youth sports.
The “School League” has been held in Bishkek since 2016, and this year marks its tenth edition.
The main goal of the competition is to promote mass sports among children and teenagers, encourage an active lifestyle, and identify promising players for further training in specialized sports schools.
This year, students born between 2008 and 2016 from 104 city schools are participating. The program includes competitions in 13 sports: badminton, children’s athletics, basketball, volleyball, handball, darts, athletics, mini-football, pioneerball, table tennis, toghuz korgool, ordo, and chess.
Winners of the “School League” traditionally receive awards, trips, and recreational opportunities.
