As part of the preparation of Bishkek’s Master Plan, a fruitful collaboration has been established with the E. Z. Gareev Botanical Garden Research Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The main goal of this partnership is to utilize the results of scientific research in the introduction and conservation of trees and shrubs, as well as their rational use in the urban environment.

The Botanical Garden, located in the foothill zone of the Chuy Valley, is one of the largest in Central Asia in terms of area and plant collection diversity, possessing significant expertise in urban landscaping.

Every year, the Institute publishes recommendations for city landscaping, which serve as an important source of information for municipal authorities. These recommendations, along with unique data accumulated through years of research and practical activity, have been incorporated into the materials of Bishkek’s Master Plan project.

The provided materials helped determine a list of tree and shrub species optimally suited for planting in the city, taking into account climatic conditions, ecological characteristics, and functional objectives of the urban landscape.

Integrating the scientific potential of the E. Z. Gareev Botanical Garden into the development of Bishkek’s Master Plan contributes to creating a sustainable and aesthetically appealing urban space that meets modern urban planning and ecological standards.
