The 2025 Road Council meeting was held at the DEPO-2 facility in Bishkek, focusing on the development of the capital’s transport system and measures to reduce traffic congestion.
The event featured a panel discussion attended by Bishkek Mayor Aybek Junushaliev, Head of the Traffic Management Department for Bishkek Manas Sydygaliev, Director of the Department of Transport and Road Infrastructure Development Ulan Beyshenbaev, and Director of the Municipal Enterprise “Center for Digital Technologies” Zhumamudun Jumaliev.
Participants raised a wide range of issues, from the organization of dedicated bus lanes and a night bus route to the airport, to the construction of pedestrian crossings, implementation of artificial intelligence, and hourly parking fees. The modernization of the fare payment system and matters related to the implementation of Bishkek’s Master Plan were also discussed.
All inquiries and proposals were reviewed and addressed during the meeting. The mayor gave instructions to the relevant departments to promptly work on specific issues.
As a result of the meeting, proposals and recommendations were formulated to guide the further development of the city’s transport system.
In his closing remarks, Mayor Aybek Junushaliev thanked the participants for the constructive dialogue and emphasized the significance of the new platform for discussing urban initiatives:
"All the issues raised today will be taken under control and addressed according to the established procedure. It is important for us that the dialogue was open and reciprocal – we were also heard. I am confident that future Road Council meetings will be even more productive, and the proposed solutions will be implemented in practice so that residents can see real changes," said the mayor.
The first large-scale 2025 Road Council meeting became a new platform for collaboration among the municipality, experts, scholars, the public, and media, aimed at finding effective solutions to improve Bishkek’s transport system.
