The capital hosted the closing session of the UN Joint Programme and a seminar on the localization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), aimed at raising awareness and building the capacity of local stakeholders.

Participants included First Deputy Mayor Mirlanbek Baygonchokov, UN representative Munavvar Alam, and other development partners. Bishkek is actively working on SDG localization and preparing its first Voluntary Local Review (VLR) to adapt global goals to local conditions and enhance governance transparency.

The seminar marked a key step in implementing the UN Joint Programme, focusing on stakeholder engagement and strengthened collaboration.

Objectives of the event:

Increase awareness of the SDGs and the Voluntary Local Review (VLR);

Strengthen cooperation between authorities, society, and partners;

Identify directions for coordinated policies and pilot projects.

Bishkek continues moving toward a sustainable and inclusive future in line with the 2030 Agenda.
