On October 16, the Bishkek City Drama Theatre named after A. Umuraliev, under the Department of Culture of the Bishkek Mayor’s Office, hosted the premiere of the tragicomic parable “Takteke”, based on the work of the national poet of the Kyrgyz Republic, Kyialbek Urmanbetov.
“Takteke” is a philosophical yet vivid story about a person who has lost connection with nature and finds themselves on the edge — between strength and weakness, pride and repentance, destruction and return to the eternal cycle of life.
The play seamlessly combines the ancient epic of the hunter Kozhozhash with modern life. Mask theatre is used not merely decoratively but as a means to reveal the essence of human personality. The epic serves as a theatrical language to explore eternal themes — nature, humanity, and harmony in the world.
The performance will be staged again on October 17 at 19:00 at the A. Umuraliev Theatre, located at 28 Chui Avenue. For inquiries, contact: 53-04-42 or 0 (500) 20-10-67.
