The Bishkek City Drama Theater named after A. Umuraliyev will host the premiere of the play “Uncle’s Dream” on November 7, 8, and 9 at 19:00, based on the novella of the same name by F. M. Dostoevsky.

The production is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the organization “Russian Seasons.”

“Uncle’s Dream” is a provincial anecdote masterfully expanded by Dostoevsky into a vivid gallery of provincial characters and morals. It is one of Dostoevsky’s most brilliant satirical works, in which he mercilessly exposes the masks of social hypocrisy, despotism, and pretentiousness hidden behind elegant words.

Created for a family audience, the play has become a significant cultural event, bringing generations together and sparking interest in reading and reflecting on eternal values—love, beauty, and human dignity. The production features grotesque and farcical elements, with characters portrayed in a striking, exaggerated, and eccentric manner.

The play is directed by Ulanmyrza Karypbaev, with stage design by Sadyr Niyazakunov, costumes by Zukhra Mukambetova, and choreography by Rezeda Gayanova (St. Petersburg).
