A roundtable on “Women’s Leadership and Gender Policy” was held at the Central Campus of the Educational-Scientific-Production Complex of the International University of Kyrgyzstan.
The event brought together a wide range of participants, including representatives of universities, state and municipal authorities, media, non-governmental organizations, and experts from international institutions.
Opening remarks were delivered by the Deputy Mayor of Bishkek for Social Affairs Victoria Mozgacheva and the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of the International University of Kyrgyzstan Saltanat Karabalaeva.
The main objective of the roundtable was to present the applied research study “Gender Aspects in Leadership Positions in the Civil Service of the Kyrgyz Republic (Based on Local Government Bodies),” alongside expert reports.
During the discussion, participants reviewed the study’s findings, addressed current challenges, and developed recommendations aimed at promoting gender equality and advancing women’s leadership in state and municipal governance.
Victoria Mozgacheva emphasized the importance of women’s active participation in decision-making at all levels of government, noting that promoting gender equality is an integral part of sustainable societal development.
Participants stressed the need for further development of women’s leadership, enhancement of the legislative framework, and implementation of systemic measures to strengthen gender equality in government bodies.
The roundtable concluded with a dynamic discussion, exchanging ideas and proposals to enhance collaboration between the academic community, government authorities, and civil society.
