An expanded interagency coordination meeting of agencies responsible for the protection against domestic violence was held in Bishkek. The event was organized by the Ministry of Labor, Social Security, and Migration of the Kyrgyz Republic under the leadership of Minister Kanat Sagynbaev.

The meeting was attended by Victoria Mozgacheva, Deputy Mayor for Social Affairs, as well as deputy heads of government agencies, representatives of local self-government bodies, international organizations, and civil society institutions.

During the session of the Coordination Council, the following issues were discussed:

  • Assessment of the current situation regarding families and child protection;
  • Discussion of preventive measures and the effectiveness of implemented programs;
  • Analysis of cooperation between governmental and public institutions in responding to cases of domestic violence;
  • Issues of revitalizing the public institution of “Marriage and Family” and strengthening family ideology in public consciousness.

The main objective is to enhance joint measures for the prevention and protection against domestic, sexual, and gender-based violence, improve interagency cooperation mechanisms, strengthen human resource capacity, develop social infrastructure, and foster zero tolerance for violence in society.

During the discussion, Victoria Mozgacheva emphasized the importance of focusing on improving public education and forming positive family role models.

Following the meeting, joint decisions and recommendations are expected to be adopted, aimed at improving legislation and regulatory acts, as well as increasing the effectiveness of the system for protecting and assisting victims of violence.
