The Bishkek City Hall has submitted a draft resolution on the “Chatyr-Kol” cinema to the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic for approval. According to the draft, the cinema, currently under the authority of the Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports, and Youth Policy, is planned to be transferred to the management of Bishkek City Hall.
The City Hall undertakes to carry out the reconstruction of the building using local budget funds. The Bishkek Architecture Department has prepared a reconstruction plan for the facility. After the draft resolution is approved, the existing building will be dismantled, and a new modern cultural center will be constructed in its place. The center will provide all necessary amenities for residents and visitors, including parking and essential infrastructure.
Bishkek City Hall has experience in implementing similar projects. For example, the “Trudovye Rezervy” sports complex was previously transferred from the Ministry of Education to the City Hall, and after major renovations, it was reopened as the “Alga” sports and wellness complex. The small arena, previously managed by the Sports Committee, is now under the City Hall’s authority; renovations have been completed, and its opening is scheduled for November 10.
A similar approach is being applied to the “Chatyr-Kol” cinema, which will provide residents with a space to relax and participate in cultural events.
