The Department of Fuel and Energy Complex of the Bishkek City Hall reports that for the upcoming 2025–2026 heating season, the procurement of 240.2 thousand tons of coal was planned to supply the city residents.
Coal procurement began in July 2025 and will continue until the end of the year.
As of November 11, 2025, 159.43 thousand tons of coal have been procured, which is 66.3% of the plan.
Current coal reserves are as follows:
- At fuel bases – 3,741 tons;
- At stationary sales points – 195 tons;
- At fuel bases of JSC “Kyrgyzkomur” – 350 tons.
The Department of the Fuel and Energy Complex, together with the Ministry of Energy, the State Environmental and Technical Inspectorate, the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision, the Municipal Inspection, as well as representatives of local administrations and municipal territorial offices, conducted inspections of fuel warehouses and coal sales points.
The purpose of these inspections is to monitor solid fuel reserves, control retail prices, and prohibit the sale, storage, and use of coal with a fraction size of 0–13 mm.
During inspections, it was found that coal prices range from 5,800 to 8,000 soms per ton, depending on the brand and place of extraction.
Meetings with city residents and coal sellers were also held to explain the current situation on the coal market.
Currently, 10 fuel bases and several stationary sales points in Bishkek are operating for selling coal to the population.
