In order to support and improve the working conditions of social workers, in November 2025 the Bishkek Mayor’s Office purchased special work uniforms for social workers.

Across the city of Bishkek, according to the approved staffing levels, there are 84 social workers employed in the Departments of Social Development. Of these, 30 social workers work with families and children in difficult life situations, while 54 social workers provide services to 562 elderly citizens and persons with disabilities who live alone and require outside care.

The main functions of social workers include:

  • identifying and supporting families and children in difficult life situations;
  • conducting assessments of applicants’ living and household conditions;
  • providing assistance in restoring documents and obtaining targeted social assistance;
  • participating in inspection raids to identify and remove children who are in situations dangerous to their lives.
