A training session was held at the city gerontological center “Ardager” for employees of social institutions under the Department of Social Development of the Bishkek City Hall.

The training was conducted by international disability expert Rahat Orozova and Aliya Turdieva, a member of the Public Association “Kyrgyz Society of the Blind and Deaf” (KSB&D). The director of the library for the blind, Kunduz Kasymbaeva, which is part of the same association, also participated in the event.

The purpose of the training was to raise awareness of the rights and needs of people with disabilities and to develop skills for working with individuals representing various disability groups (physical, sensory, psychosocial, intellectual, and multiple disabilities).

During the training, participants studied a rights-based approach to disability issues, learned how to engage with the disability community in decision-making, conducted accessibility assessments of environments and services, and explored ways to integrate inclusion into daily professional practice.
