A meeting was held in the conference hall of Bishkek City Hall between Bishkek Deputy Mayor Ramiz Aliyev and a delegation from the United Nations Office for Sustainable Development (UNOSD), led by the agency’s head, Mr. Pak Chun Koo.

The main topic of discussion was identifying the key sources of air pollution in the capital and the need for a new comprehensive study in this area.

Deputy Mayor Ramiz Aliyev noted that smog remains one of the most pressing issues for Bishkek. “One of the serious problems in our city is smog. Bishkek needs a new, modern study of air quality. That is why we invited experts to examine the current situation and identify the main sources of pollution,” he emphasized.

UNOSD representatives expressed their gratitude for the invitation and presented a methodology used in international air quality studies within the organization’s projects.
