The Bishkek City Hall continues comprehensive cleanup and improvement works on rivers and canals.
As part of the first stage of improvement, the riverbeds of the Alamedin and Ala-Archa rivers were cleared, with 107,000 tons of waste removed.
Currently, riverbank reinforcement works are underway. This is a technically complex process that requires thorough preparation, which is why its implementation takes additional time.
At the same time, in order to ensure the free flow of rivers, prevent flooding, and create a safe and environmentally friendly urban environment, work is being carried out to dismantle illegal structures along rivers and canals. To date, approximately 300 structures have been dismantled, and work in this direction is ongoing.
It should be noted that the first project implemented as part of the improvement program was the promenade in front of the “Alga” Sports Complex, located between Y. Abdrakhmanov Street and Usenbaev Street. In addition, improvement works are being carried out near the CHP technical canal.
The Bishkek Main Department for Urban Planning and Architecture has prepared concept design projects for the improvement of areas along rivers and canals and is currently developing the design and cost estimate documentation. Once this process is completed, the implementation of improvement projects will begin at all planned sites.
