From September 28 to October 1, 2025, the Mayor of Bishkek, Aibek Junushaliev, visited Seoul, Republic of Korea, to participate in international events organized by the Seoul Metropolitan Government in cooperation with the World Smart Sustainable Cities Organization (WeGO) and the Seoul Digital Foundation.

The forum marked the 40th anniversary of the Metropolis organization and brought together mayors of major cities, representatives of international organizations, experts, and business leaders. Key topics included urban development, green and sustainable growth, digitalization, and the implementation of innovative city management solutions.

During the plenary sessions, Mayor Junushaliev emphasized Bishkek’s commitment to sustainable development and its readiness to share and adopt international best practices. Priority areas highlighted included ecology, digital innovation, urban infrastructure development, and improving residents’ quality of life.

Participation in the forum allowed Bishkek to strengthen international ties, establish new partnerships, and learn from successful smart city practices, opening up new opportunities for the capital’s development.
