On October 7, 2025, Bishkek Mayor Aibek Junushaliev attended the grand opening ceremony of the renovated Kindergarten No. 60 “Balastan.”
In his speech, the mayor congratulated local residents and the kindergarten staff on the reopening.
“Beyond giving our children a happy childhood, our main task is to provide them with quality education and proper upbringing. For this purpose, we have created all necessary conditions and continuously carry out renovation works in the city’s schools and kindergartens. Over the past two years, we have built a total of 20 kindergartens, 12 of which are located in residential areas. Our goal is to create equal conditions both in the city center and in residential neighborhoods,” said A. Junushaliev.
The two-story building accommodates 140 children, but with foldable beds, it can host up to 280 children. The total area is 1,363 square meters, with a territory of 0.4 hectares. The major renovation included a complete redesign of the premises, creating modern and comfortable conditions for preschool education.
The kindergarten features a medical room, kitchen block, laundry, utility rooms, assembly hall, playrooms, and sleeping rooms. The grounds have been landscaped, and each group has its own dedicated playground.
The contractor for the project was LLC “Biyik KZH.”
It is worth noting that the building was originally constructed in 1982 and was used as a laboratory for the Institute of Agriculture during the Soviet period. After the institute was closed, the building remained abandoned for a long time. On November 1, 2024, the facility was officially assigned to Kindergarten No. 60 “Balastan” and underwent a full renovation.
