In Bishkek, authorities are carrying out the dismantling of street signs and advertising structures that were installed without permission, do not comply with state language requirements, and violate the approved design code.
According to Bishkek City Council Resolution №134 dated May 14, 2024, the Rules for Placement and Operation of Information and Advertising Structures, as well as requirements for the appearance of building facades, have been established.
Under these rules, the installation and proper maintenance of signs, street nameplates, building numbers, and apartment indicators are the responsibility of property owners.
Street signs must follow the approved design — white background with blue inscriptions and markings.
Recently, cases have been recorded where private individuals and property owners have installed signs independently, without coordination with the competent authorities. These signs often contain errors violating the state language norms and do not meet the approved design code requirements developed by the Bishkek Main Department of Urban Planning and Architecture of the Ministry of Construction of the Kyrgyz Republic. Such actions are contrary to the established rules.
As a result, district administrations, municipal territorial departments, and local committees are conducting inspections and raids to identify violations, bring street signs into compliance with the approved design code, correct errors, and dismantle illegally installed advertising structures.
To prevent similar violations, district administrations conduct explanatory work and issue warnings to property owners.
Bishkek City Hall urges residents to comply with legal requirements and reminds that, according to Article 8 of the Constitutional Law of the Kyrgyz Republic “On the State Language of the Kyrgyz Republic”, street names must be indicated exclusively in the state language.
All street signs must be installed strictly in accordance with the approved design code and state language norms.
