On October 16 and 17 at 19:00, the Bishkek City Drama Theater named after A. Umuraliev, under the City Hall’s Department of Culture, will host the premiere of the tragicomic parable “Takteke”, based on the work of the national poet of the Kyrgyz Republic, Kyialbek Urmanbetov.
Director: Aynura Kachkynbek kyzy
Set Designer: Mariam Ablakova
Choreographer: Honored Cultural Worker of the Kyrgyz Republic Sergey Streltcov
Mask Instructor: Ivan Dergachev (Moscow)
“Takteke” is not just a story—it is a philosophical parable in which every viewer may see themselves. The protagonist finds themselves at a crossroads—between strength and weakness, pride and repentance, destruction and return to life.
The play intertwines the ancient epic of the hunter Kozhozhash with contemporary themes. Legends, masks, and symbols come alive on stage, while poetic imagery raises universal questions: What have we lost by turning away from nature? Can we restore harmony with ourselves and the world? The mask theater in this production becomes not merely a technique but a living language of human emotions. Through music, movement, and silence, the actors convey timeless truths about humanity, nature, and the soul.
“Takteke” is a performance that will leave no one indifferent. It is an invitation to reflection, a journey back to one’s roots, and a search for inner strength.
